Fireflies over the Telar.
We sat on the cottage veranda at 8pm and watched fireflies rise from the floodplain. Hari's family non-veg thali on a charpoy under the mango tree was the meal of the trip.

AC, hot water, and the river.
The compromise spot — proper amenities (AC, hot water) without losing the soul. The mustard fields in March are blinding yellow. Hari's son took us fishing.

The cottages are honest.
Three thatched cottages on a floodplain. Honest construction, honest food. We saw a kingfisher at the river bend. Worth every rupee.

Bring mosquito repellent.
Beautiful spot. Mosquitoes at dusk are intense — bring proper repellent. Hari's wife gave us neem oil which actually worked. The river at night is magic.

A river is a teacher.
I sat on the bank for three hours one afternoon. Hari brought me chai twice without speaking. That is the level of host this is.

Questions guests have asked
Q.Is the AC reliable in May? My family runs hot.
A.AC works well — we run on grid + battery backup. May days hit 40°C, so AC is needed. Cottages stay cool with cross-ventilation at night.

Q.Can we swim in the Telar river?
A.Wading is fine in the dry season (Nov-May). Don't swim in monsoon — currents are strong. My son will show you the safe spots. Watch for crocodiles only at the wider downstream bend.
